I’d love to give away a digital copy of either Highlander’s Hope or The Viscount’s Vow to a commentor.
Hello Collette. Thank you for being our guest!
Thank you so much for hosting me today!
Please tell us about your latest or upcoming release. Do you have a review you could share with us?
The Earl’s Enticement is the third book in the Castle Brides Series. It’s the story of a rather stuffy earl and an unconventional Scottish lass. I don’t have any reviews for it yet, since it won’t release until May 28th.
What inspired this story?
Roark and Adaira made their first appearance in Highlander’s Hope. I knew the minute I wrote them into that Regency-Scottish historical they would get their own book. Readers have been asking me for the last year when Roark and Adaira’s story would be shared. It’s my longest book at 96,000 words and was the hardest to write, even though I knew their story.
What is the story behind the story?
Both characters are tormented by their pasts, and both must learn forgiveness to overcome the things that haunt them. The inspirational overtones are subtle; the humor, not so much.
Why do you write romance?
I want to take readers to a stress free place and treat them to a few hours of escape.
I write historical (Regency and Scottish) romance because I’m a history nut, and I love those time periods. I never intended to write romance, but I had this scene pop into my head one day, and I wondered if I could write an entire story around it. I did. The Castle Brides Series is the result. My new series, The Highland Heather Romancing A Scot Series is a spinoff of the first series. I guess writing romance is in my blood now.
Where is your favorite place in the world?
Favorite place I’ve been to? That would be France, hands down. Favorite place I want to go to? Scotland. Hubby and I are going the summer of 2015. Little does he know we’ll be spending lots and lots of time in castles and ruins!
Which element of story creation is your favorite?
I adore developing my characters, though they often take me by surprise and do something I didn’t know they were going to do. I complete a questionnaire (50+ questions) for my hero and heroine before I begin writing. It forces me to get inside their heads. Still, not once have they developed exactly as I planned. I like that. It makes them more real to me.
What inspires you? What motivates you?
I’m a person of strong faith, so all that I do is motivated by that. I get inspired by little things: birds, flowers, my dogs. I include a lot of nature, Biblical precepts, and dogs in my writing.
Please tell us about your other books (if you have others published).
As I mentioned earlier, Highlander’s Hope is Regency-Scottish story. I like to say Regency propriety clashes with Scots boldness in that story. The Viscount’s Vow is a Regency with twist. The heroine is part gypsy.
